2010 Kecksburg Festival Commemorates
45th Anniversary of UFO IncidentThe Kecksburg V.F.D. will hold their 5th annual Old Fashion Days & UFO Festival on September 18-19, 2010. This year, the festival commemorates the 45th anniversary of the 1965 UFO mystery with some special events in addition to many other scheduled activities. The festival centers around the mysterious acorn shaped object that fell near Kecksburg and was reportedly recovered by the military. Kecksburg firemen were among the officials on the scene that December evening in 1965.
The event begins on Saturday with a large parade with a UFO theme. A trophy will be given for the best UFO float in the procession. You can join in the bucket brigade contest, bed race, hay bail toss, and the famous burn out contest at 7 pm. On Sunday, there will be a car cruise from 12-5, and music by Katrina Lynn on stage at 1 pm. One new special event is the first “UFO Dog Eating Contest” on Sunday at 1 pm. These “out of this world” hot dogs will be specially spiced for those who attempt to eat the largest number of them within a specified period of time. Later on Sunday, a UFO lecture will be given at 2 pm.
UFO and Paranormal researchers from the Pittsburgh area will be on hand both days with displays set up in the banquet room. Scheduled to attend are Stan Gordon, UFO researcher and author, John Ventre PA MUFON State Director, Eric Altman, Director, PA Bigfoot Society, Dan Hageman, Director (BORU) , Brian & Terri Seech, (C.U.E.) and Keith Bastianini, UFO researcher & graphic artist.
At 2 pm on Sunday, Stan Gordon will present a free public illustrated lecture on the Kecksburg UFO, Bigfoot, and other past and recent UFO sightings in the area. The lecture will be held in the fire truck shed. The other researchers will also speak about their current investigations and upcoming events.
