Strange Screams Reported in Ligonier Township

I have received information that strange animal sounds were heard from a wooded area of Ligonier Township during the early morning hours of February 28, 2013. A man was awakened from sleep by a loud unusual animal sound coming from the nearby woods.

The fellow described the sound as a high pitched screaming shrill that lasted for about 30 seconds. Soon after, that sound was followed by another sound which was similar to monkey chatter. After that sound, the fellow heard 5-7 gun shots which was followed once again by that shrill screaming sound.

While we can’t be sure as to what is the source of these sounds, it is well known that the areas around the Chestnut Ridge, as well as from Derry Township and throughout the Ligonier area have had a long history of reported encounters with Bigfoot and other mystery animals.  During 2012, I heard numerous accounts from residents who live in this area reporting various type of strange activity. Many of these reports occurred from May through August.

People reported a terrible unusual smell around their rural properties that was described as similar to rotten eggs or something that was dead. It would be detectable for minutes or on and off for a few days.

It was noted in one case that the dogs were very frightened when the odor was noticed and even bull frogs in the area didn’t make a sound. Other strange sounds were reported. I had heard of possible Bigfoot sightings in the area.  I also interviewed witnesses from several different locations who claimed to have been within 30 feet from what they described as a black panther. Additionally, a report of a strange footprint came to the attention of the PA Bigfoot Society.

If you have any knowledge of any such occurrences, please contact Stan.
