Dr. Jeff Meldrum-Well Known Anthropologist and Bigfoot Researcher Has Sadly Passed Away-September 11, 2025

I received sad news from Eric Altman, Director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society, that Dr. Jeff Meldrum had passed away. As many of you are aware, Dr. Meldrum was a Professor of Anthropology at Idaho State University, and was a distinguished figure in the Bigfoot community as well. Dr. Meldrum provided a scientific approach to a controversial subject that remains an ongoing mystery.
I had the opportunity to meet and to have discussions with Dr. Meldrum at various Bigfoot events in past years. While our theories concerning the Bigfoot mystery were quite different, our conversations were pleasant and interesting.
Dr. Meldrum will be missed by many in the scientific and Bigfoot community. He was, at times, contacted by Bigfoot researchers about alleged Bigfoot tracks that had been discovered for his opinion on their authenticity. This occurred as recently as April of 2024, when a series of large five toed footprints were discovered in Blair County, Pennsylvania, and investigated by the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society.
The memory of Dr. Meldrum and the achievements that he brought to the cryptozoology field will forever be a part of the historical record.
