Daylight sphere moves across sky
Ruffsdale, Westmoreland County

On the early afternoon of November 6, 2011, two people near Ruffsdale, were outside looking at a building when they caught sight of something in the sky that they could not identify. The sky was clear with just a few clouds. Their attention was drawn to a round object that seemed to be somewhat transparent. The object moved steadily across the sky. The observers report that the object moved very fast, and was observed for about 4-5 seconds as it moved out of sight in the distance.

Odd Large Footprints In The Snow?
Derry area, Westmoreland County

As mentioned before, the Derry area has had a long history of reported encounters with Bigfoot and large footprints being reported. I have received some information that during the early snowstorm on October 29, 2011, a series of large footprints were observed in the fresh snow covering a large area that exited and re-entered the nearby woods. If anyone has any details about this and can forward me some photos of the tracks to examine, that would be appreciated

Elliptical Object with Lights Passes Overhead
Chester County

During the early morning of October 16, 2011, a Chester County resident was walking her dog when she noticed a series of bright pulsating lights moving from the east to west. As the lights approached closer and passed overhead, the light pattern indicated the outline of a large elliptical shaped object. There were numerous bright white lights that surrounded the object that were pulsating on and off in a slow fashion and unlike the pattern of conventional aircraft. According to the witness, the object made, “no noise whatsoever.” The object never hovered, but moved steady over the back yard. The object slowly moved off in the distance.

October 15, 2011

Glowing cylindrical shaped object
Somerset County

Several witnesses camping in Somerset County observed an unusual object on the evening of October 15, 2011. The object approached the camping area from the south and was moving towards the north. The object, which turned along its path, moved continuously over the top of the trees. The object appeared to be only about 80 feet off the ground. What was observed was a glowing orange cylindrical shaped object in a vertical position.

The object was moving steadily but not fast. The view was being blocked partially blocked by the trees. One witness tried to take some photos of the object but was unsuccessful. The man ran across a field to try to get a better look at it, but it moved behind some trees and was lost from sight. The object was wingless, and according to one witness, looked like a solid fuselage.

UFO Sighting
Charleroi, PA

The witness was outside in his yard around 9 pm, when his attention was drawn to the sky by what looked to be a row of very bright windows. As the man continued to watch, he noticed the dark outline of a cigar shaped object as it moved straight across the clear sky at a steady fixed pace, and slower than an aircraft would fly. The row of luminous windows on the cigar shaped object appeared to be rectangular in shape, not the semi-round shape of a normal passenger aircraft. The luminosity of these windows was extremely bright, and the object did not display normal navigational lighting. The object was estimated to be below 5,000 feet in altitude, and there was no apparent sound. The sighting observation lasted about two minutes.

Formations of Lighted Objects
Pittsburgh area

On the evening of September 24, 2011, there were apparently a number of reports of formations of red-orange lights observed around the Pittsburgh, PA area. One detailed observation was investigated by Keith Bastianini, and the following is his report:

At 7:45 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2011, two witnesses (a Mother and Son) traveling on Curry Hollow Road in Baldwin Borough, Allegheny County, reported multiple UFO’s traveling in formation. The witnesses had just turned into the parking lot of the Value City Shopping Plaza, where they planned to get coffee at the Dunkin Donuts store, when they saw five brightly glowing lights to the northeast in the sky behind the plaza. The witnesses at first thought they were observing helicopters flying low in a tight formation but quickly realized the objects were round and made no noise.

The witnesses described the objects as reddish in color with a slightly orange hue. The objects traveled in fixed position to each other with four, arranged one on top of the other, in a vertical orientation while the fifth moved diagonally and slightly lower to the others. The woman said that the flight of the four vertically arrayed objects was so exact relative to each other that it was as if “…the lights were fixed on a pencil that was moving steadily in front of your eyes.” As they watched, two of the lower lights “went out” but the objects were still visible in silhouette against the evening sky. At this point the man observed that “The two unlit objects appeared flat gray in color. They broke the formation and began maneuvering about under the others. A couple of times it almost seemed as if they would merge together and then separate.”

The relative positions of the lit objects seemed to stay fixed he reported. The witnesses noted there was no apparent breeze as they watched the objects moving slowly to the east. Both witnesses remarked that the objects were so bright, and moving so slowly, that there had to be many other witnesses. They estimated that the sighting lasted approximately five minutes before the objects disappeared over a hill moving eastward in the direction of Century III Mall. I asked the witnesses if it was possible they observed balloons or “Chinese lanterns.” Both said “No,” each having the distinct feeling the flight of the objects was “controlled.” They also cited the brightness and steady glow of the lights, the man adding “There was no flickering to the lights when they went out – they just went out like you flipped a switch.”

August 22, 2011

UFO Sighting
Saxonburg, PA-Butler County

At about 9 am, a man was traveling on Rt. 228 at about 45 mph. when he observed something off to his left. About a ¼ mile away he noticed a large object hovering over a field. What he saw looked like a big cigar, or “like an airplane with no wings.” The object appeared to hover over a field about 200-250 feet off the ground. The sun was glaring off the side of the object. The fuselage shape appeared to be stainless steel or chrome and was very shiny. In the center of the object there appeared to be a darker area, about 10% of the length. The witness estimated that it was 180-200 feet in length from that distance. There were no lights visible. The witness had pulled off the road to the left into a parking lot where 5-7 other cars had pulled over to look at the object. The man said he was very excited and called his wife after watching it for about four minutes. He then realized that he might have a camera and started looking for it. He was about to take a picture when the object suddenly just “vanished” and was not seen again.

Luminous Object Moves Over Pennsylvania
Near Pittsburgh, Washington County & West Virginia

On the evening of July 1, 2011, there were reports of a brilliant object moving steadily across the sky over various locations. Observers from near Pittsburgh and Washington County indicated that the object kept a steady intensity as it moved on a southeasterly path. The object appeared as bright as the planet Venus on a clear night, and remained steady as it approached the horizon. The object looked very much like a satellite, and it took about two or three minutes to cross from horizon to horizon. One of these witnesses, who had previously seen the space station, said it looked similar but this object appeared to be brighter.

Another observer was on a sky watch in West Virginia. He related that he had observed the space station, but it was apparently seen later in the evening than the reports from the Pittsburgh area.

There were apparently other reports of a similar object reported across the state the same evening as mentioned in this story at the Examiner website.

Object Over Pittsburgh Area Likely A Weather Balloon

If you observed a strange roundish object moving across the sky in the areas around Pittsburgh on Tuesday night, June 21, 2011, what you saw could have been a weather balloon. The weather data gathering device apparently developed a problem and took on an odd trajectory as it followed the prevailing winds in the area. There were apparently some UFO reports around the area that evening. One report around 7:30 pm, occurred near Harrison City in Westmoreland County. About 8 observers reportedly saw a spherical or disc shaped object that appeared to be moving high in the sky. After a couple of minutes, the object was said to have dropped downwards.

I spoke with Rich Kane at the National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh. He had looked into another report from the Butler area. Kane told me that the weather service had launched the radiosonde around 7 pm that evening. It was estimated that the balloon ascended to between 66,000 and 67,000 feet before it developed a leak. As the device descended, the wind carried it over several counties including Allegheny, Butler, and Westmoreland, before its journey came to an end.

Odd 4-Legged Animal Observed
Near Sharpsburg, Allegheny County

On June 18, 2011, a witness reported the observation of a very strange animal not far from Sharpsburg, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh near the Allegheny River. It was about 8 AM that morning as the witness stood on her back porch and observed an animal unlike anything she had ever seen before.

The witness is quite familiar with the wildlife in the area such as coyotes, and even fox. Her comment to me was, “This animal was so bizarre.” The animal was observed as it cantered down a road just a few yards above her nearby roadway. The woman explained that this animal’s movements were not that of a trot or gallop, but an actual canter like that of a horse.

The animal stood about 2 feet tall, and was “too big, for a cat”. The witness also stated that it was not a dog, and didn’t move like a fox or a coyote. The animal, which was observed for about 45 seconds, was estimated to weigh about 35 pounds and was about 2 ½ feet long. The creature was very thin and streamlined, but did not look to be starving or emaciated. The animal looked either hairless, or had very short hair about 1/8 inches long. The entire body was of a pale tan cream beige color. The witness explained that the color was not a pink fleshy color, either.

The observer was able to see a pointy snout and pointy ears as well, and it had a cat-like face. The tail, which was about as long as the body (2 ½ feet), was hairless and skinny. The last 6 inches of the tail curved slightly upwards. The creature moved about 75 yards down the middle of the road, then moved to the right side toward a guard rail. It then changed direction and went to the left where it went into a wooded area. a dead wild duck was reported to have been found mutilated the same morning, but a distance further down the road from where the animal was seen.

The witness went on the internet to try to identify the animal in question. She came across a website with photographs depicting a strange creature which had been killed in a western state known as a “chupacabra.” She said what she saw looked very similar.

Mysterious Winged Creature Reported In Pennsylvania
Butler County, early morning

From Researcher: Stan Gordon
www.stangordon.info

On March 21, 2011, I was contacted by a witness who reported having an encounter with a very strange creature during the early morning hours of March 18, 2011. The incident occurred on a rural road in Butler County between Chicora and East Brady. The witness, a businessman passing through the area, stated that “this was the freakiest thing I ever saw, and it made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.”

The man told me that he was driving down the road when from about a ¼ mile away, he observed something on the right side in a grassy area. His first thought was that it was a deer. The driver stepped on the gas to move closer to get a better view. From about 50 yards away, he observed something that appeared to be hunched down, and then stood up. The driver then observed a very tall muscular creature.

At this point, the driver had his high beams on and watched as the creature walked in front of a yellow reflective road sign, then crossed the two lane road in three long steps and continued into a wooded area. What he saw was a humanoid figure that stood at least 8 feet tall that appeared to have smooth leather-like skin that was of either a darker tan or light brown color.

This sketch of the winged creature used with permission of the witness

The creature never looked at the witness, and was only observed from its side. The head appeared to be flat in the front section, and then rounded out. “At the top back of skull, it was like one of those aerodynamic helmets. The top was not quite a point, but looked like a ridge on top of the head.” The face was flat, and the eyes were not clearly defined, but the man thought that they might have been pointed in the corner. The ear that was observed on the left side was long and flat, and came up and back and was pointed backwards like a flap.

The arms were muscular and a little longer than that of a human. The hands looked more like a claw, but the number of fingers was unclear. One physical trait that stood out were the extremely muscular legs. The witness stated that it was hard to explain, but the legs did not move like that of a human, and “looked like they bent backwards.” The witness also saw what appeared to be wings on its back which were tucked into its body, with the wing tips extending toward the side of its head.

No unusual sounds or smells where noticed during the observation which was estimated to have been about 7-8 seconds. As the motorist approached the location where the creature entered the woods, it could no longer be seen. The next day the witness decided to drive back to the location of the encounter to look for any evidence. The ground conditions were not suitable for tracks, and nothing was found. The witness did, however, measure the road sign that the creature had walked in front of. The sign was just over 8 feet high, and the head of the creature was estimated to have reached about 4 inches above the sign.

The witnesses, startled by what they were seeing, ran closer towards the object, but one man stopped about half way and would not approach closer. One observer described the object which was stationary at the time stating that it looked somewhat like, “ a ball with the top quarter cut off.”

The witness explained that the top quarter was the “orb”, that was flat on the bottom section. The object appeared to be about 60-72 inches long, and about 30-36 inches high. The object was solid red in color, but non-glowing with a thin white colored bottom and a yellow edge that was located between the top of the orb and the bottom. While the one witness stood about 70 feet from the motionless object, he noticed some sort of “static discharge” or white spark coming from the bottom white section.

The witness remained motionless as the object slowly moved away from his position. It then made some changes in direction and finally, with great speed, it moved over a hill and vanished from sight. The object was silent and was never more than 3-4 feet above the ground. The observation lasted about 15 seconds.

Was this Another Close Range Encounter with a Thunderbird Near South Greensburg, Pennsylvania?

By Researcher Stan Gordon
www.stangordon.info

On the evening of August 26, 2010, about 8:10 pm, there was a sighting of a monstrous bird in South Greensburg, PA. Just as it was getting dark, four people were sitting around in the yard having a barbecue and enjoying the beautiful weather when suddenly, their attention was drawn skyward by a sound like a “swish” or a “swoosh” or as one witness stated, “like air coming straight down.”

Several of the observers at almost the same time yelled out some exclamations including one man who said, “What the hell is that?” They were all startled to see a tremendously large bird that was flying over a tree in the yard about 30-40 feet overhead. The man who was doing the cooking turned and looked up to see the creature fly above him at a distance of about 40 feet away. As the bird passed the tree, it veered slightly to the right and went straight down the road ahead, maintaining its low level path.

When first observed, the massive wings of the creature were in an upward position and were beginning to drop slowly, almost as if they were rolling to the bottom. The swoosh sound could be heard when the wings were moving. The powerful bird had flown about 125 yards down the road, at which time the wings were coming back up. The creature was observed as it continued to move steadily down the road, passing just above the roof top of a house with its wings flapping slowly and steadily about 3-4 time until it reached a group of trees about ¼ mile away, where it was lost from sight. It took about 20 seconds to go the ¼ mile distance.

I interviewed two of the witnesses at the scene and they were able to provide a detailed description of the giant flying creature. As it passed over, it appeared as though it was peering below, with its head and beak positioned downward. It was estimated that if the bird was on the ground it would stand between 4 ½ to 5 feet tall. The entire body was the same dark color, either darkish brown or black. The body width was about 25-30 inches wide. One witness said the body, “was very bulky and husky.”

The head was oval shaped, and the beak was short for the size of the animal, about 8-10 inches long. The tail was about 2 feet long and came out wide to a point. It was the size of the wingspan of the creature that impressed the witnesses, which they estimated at 10 feet or more in length. When asked why nobody thought to take a picture, they pointed out that while there were cell phones lying there with camera functions, all involved were mesmerized by the encounter. One fellow I talked with said that after the experience he felt as if he was “almost in shock.”

It was later learned that another witness who lived along the road where the big bird flew over also reportedly saw the creature. One witness has been a long time hunter and is very familiar with birds native to the state and is certain that he saw something quite unusual. The area where these observations have taken place, while surrounded with some wooded locations, is well populated, and nearby Route 119 is a highly traveled roadway.

There has been a long history of sightings of giant birds with oversized wingspans in Pennsylvania as well as other sections of the United States and elsewhere. Many refer to these giant flying creatures as “Thunderbirds.” It is interesting to note that over the years around the same general area as this sighting, other residents have reported a similar strange “swoosh” sound, as though a huge bird had passed overhead, but nothing was seen.

Now years later, here is another detailed close range observation of a huge flying creature just a short distance away from the location where in 2001, a similar observation had taken place. It was on September 25, 2001, that a witness reported seeing a huge, dark colored bird flying about 50-60 feet above the traffic along Route 119 in South Greensburg. The observer was drawn to look upwards when he heard a sound, “like flags flapping in a thunderstorm.” That witness was stunned by the wingspan of the flying creature which he estimated was between 10 and 15 feet.

Small Luminous Sphere Seen At Close Range
Westmoreland County-Derry

A man had been taking his daily exercise and was walking around the area around 9 pm when his attention was drawn to a luminous object. The object which was estimated to be about 15 feet above the ground, looked solid and round, about 2 inches in diameter, and of a pale white color. The slow moving object approached to as close as about 15 feet from the observer. The witness said he thought the object might hit some trees but it just moved around them and continued to move out of sight until it was gone.

Bigfoot Observed Early Morning
Allegheny County

It was during the early morning hours that a witness observed a large hairy man-like creature along a tree line. The area where this occurred was well lit and the creature was about 50-60 feet from the observer. The man in describing what he saw stated, “It was like a guy covered in hair.” The creature stood at least 7½ feet tall, was very broad shouldered, had real long arms, and covered with reddish-brown hair. The witness watched the creature for about 40 seconds before it walked back into the woods. The witness who has hunted all of his life, had never seen anything like this before, but was certain as to what he saw.

Luminous Object Photographed In Hempfield Township
Westmoreland County-Hempfield Township outside of Greensburg

(Photos used with permission of the owner. Click for larger images)

It was just about 9:30 pm when several independent witnesses observed a bright object moving slowly and steadily across the sky. One man and his wife were sitting in their backyard when a neighbor yelled to him and asked him what was in the sky. They all observed a bright orange-yellow glowing object moving slowly below the clouds. Another couple walking down the road spotted the object at the same time. One witness told me that it looked like a big ball that moved steadily and made no sound. Another spotter got his binoculars and said that the object had an orange flickering to it, but it wasn’t on fire.

One witness obtained his iPhone and used the camera setting to take several pictures and video footage of the object. The object seemed to accelerate in speed as it moved out of sight. Upon examination, at least one picture clearly shows a series of three white lights in a triangular pattern. The photos and footage are being examined by researcher Jim Brown, who is experienced with photo analysis.

Pulsating Light Over Grapeville
Westmoreland County-Grapeville

A man observed a very bright star-like object straight up in the sky that looked larger than any star at about 11 pm. As he watched, the object began to pulsate and became larger in size. It pulsated 2 to 3 times, then the object became very dim and looked just like a speck of light in the sky and suddenly went out and was not seen again.

Another second hand report was received concerning a UFO sighting near Crabtree on this same night. If you have any information on these reports please contact me.

Triangular Object Near Jeannette
Westmoreland County-Jeannette

Two friends were sitting on a patio enjoying the evening when at about 10:40 pm, one of them noticed a very bright yellow-orange light which appeared to be pulsating or possibly rotating. The light approached from the west and came through the tree line, then passed directly above them. One witness said at that point she noticed that the underside of the object was darker, with 3 white lights each positioned to make up a triangular pattern. The silent object was moving towards the east and moving upwards in the sky.

The two people discussed what they saw, trying to figure out just what it was. Then 15 minutes later, they observed a second object that looked similar, but moved faster along the same trajectory as the first object. The observers estimated that the objects were between 600-800 feet above the ground when they passed over. The people did not have a camera available to take any pictures.

Fayette County-Uniontown

Prior to the fireworks display that night, there were a number of people who observed a bright round object near Uniontown. The object was described as spherical with an outer ring, “like a ring of fire,” that had an orange colored glow to it. The edges of the ring seemed to have jagged flames. The object when first observed was moving to the north and then made a slight eastward turn. As it turned, it appeared to be gaining altitude and moved off in the distance. The silent object was observed for about 5 minutes. One person tried unsuccessfully to take a picture.

Flaming Object Near New Kensington
Westmoreland County-New Kensington

Several people observed an unusual object high in the sky at about 11:40 pm. The object was described as looking like a bright yellow-orange flame. The flaming object moved slowly across the sky, then suddenly changed into an oval shaped object of the same color.

The oval object stayed in that spot for about 5 minutes then suddenly vanished. About 10 minutes later, the same or a similar object appeared again. The second object was observed for about 2 minutes when it suddenly began to fade out, as though it was moving away, and then disappeared from sight.

Low Level Glowing Object
Westmoreland County-Sewickley Township

At about 9:50 pm, two people in a rural area observed a large spherical luminous orange-red object that appeared to be about 30 feet above the ground. The object. which did not appear to be moving at first, began to slowly rise straight up into the sky. The observers were watching the object from a window, then decided to run outside to look at it. They quickly ran behind their house where the object was seen, but when they got there about 15 seconds later, the object had disappeared and was not seen again.

The National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) and I have received numerous UFO sighting reports during early July. I am posting some of the reports that have come to my attention and more will follow. The NUFORC http://www.nuforc.org/ posted a special report on July 6, 2010, concerning the numerous sighting reports they received from across the county and Canada, on July 3rd and July 4th describing strange red, orange, or yellow fireballs.

Some of the reports I have received are likely home made hot air balloons or Chinese lanterns. These devices glow very brightly in the dark sky and can make movements that could easily fool observers with the wind currents.

I highly recommend to those who wish to launch such devices to consider that they can be a navigational hazard to aircraft as well as a fire hazard due to the dry conditions we are experiencing in parts of Pennsylvania.

Metallic Disc Moves Over Pittsburgh
Allegheny County-Metro Pittsburgh

At about 10:50 am, a woman and her passenger were driving on a busy roadway in metropolitan Pittsburgh. As they stopped at a light, their attention was drawn to a strange object in the sky. What they saw was a “very, very shiny” silver metallic disc shaped object that was rotating in circles as it moved across the sky at a steady pace. At one point the driver tried to take a picture of the object, but unfortunately, it was not captured. As the witnesses watched, the object suddenly was lost from sight, and they questioned where it had gone to since it had not been moving that fast. The observers were certain that what they saw was not a conventional aircraft.

Strange Animal Sounds
Westmoreland County-Mount Pleasant Township

Members of a family reported a series of strange sounds from around their rural property which was unlike anything they had previously heard. One witness said the sound was like “two different noises that went into one long continuous noise.” The sound was described as, “almost similar to a clicking and rolling of the tongue to a somewhat normal screaming sound.” Another family member had stepped outside while having a telephone conversation. The sound occurred while this was taking place, and the person on the other phone could easily hear it.

The loud noise was first heard earlier in the evening, then again at about 2am on April 25. At that time, two family members went outside on the porch and heard the bellowing five to six more times. The sound was first heard south of their property. Whatever was making the sound moved north, then moved east of their property. The two later went inside the house.

He looked out of the bedroom window and saw a large creature on all fours walking around his yard. He is stunned to see the creature stand up on two legs, standing around six feet tall, very thin, and covered in dark colored hair. The creature then walked off into a patch of woods behind his house. The man states he knows it was not a bear or dog because he could see the arms swinging like a mans. Upon investigation, the PBS finds one possible track measuring 16 inches long.

April 19, 2010

UFO
Armstrong County

It was just after 11 pm when a man went outside to check his propane tank. He looked up into the clear sky towards the northeast and observed two commercial jets moving westward across the sky. Suddenly, his attention was drawn to a dim flash of white light in the western part of the sky.

Moments later, the witness says that he observed a huge disc shaped object appear from the position of the flash. The object had a pale red center, and the ends of the object appeared to be a powder blue color. The top of the object appeared to be rounded, while the bottom of the object seemed to be flat. There was also a non-blinking dim white light through the center of the device.

The object then shot up into the sky moving eastward in the direction of the first jet and moved several hundred feet above the first aircraft. The witness said the object, “shot over them.” The object which was moving east then made a turn to the southeast. The object moved so fast that it just turned into an orange blur as moved into the distant stars.

Two UFO’s Seen
Armstrong County

A man was inside of his home and doing some computer work on the evening of December 23, 2009, when he heard a rumbling sound coming from outside. The sound was similar to fireworks going off in the distance. He went outside to see what creating the sound and looked skyward. The witness observed a very large cylindrical shaped object, which was estimated to be about 300 feet long. There was a bright white light positioned both at the front and back of the object and no sound was heard while it was observed moving very slowly in the sky. The object appeared to be about 1,000-1500 feet in altitude and seemed to be north of Kittanning and moving towards Freeport.

The startled man ran inside of his home to find a camera so he could take a picture of the cylindrical shaped object. He returned moments later but the object was gone. To the fellow’s surprise, in just about the same position in the sky was a huge triangular shaped pattern of lights, which seemed to be about the size of the former object. The shape of the triangle was comprised of 4 non-blinking white lights with a soft red pulsating light in the center of the object. The pattern of the lights and the movement suggested that they were attached to a larger construction.

This object, which was also moving very slowly and was silent, was observed for about thirty seconds as trees blocked the view of the object as it moved across the sky. The man did try to take a picture with his older model digital camera, but he could not find the object in the small viewfinder. The witness told me that he would never forget what he had seen.

Chevron Shaped Object Follows Route 30 East
Near Greensburg, Westmoreland County

A man sitting in his car behind the Westmoreland Mall noticed something moving across the sky that he couldn’t explain. It was about 3 pm and the sky was generally clear and blue, with some scattered clouds. Looking towards Greensburg, the man observed an object in the sky, estimated to be around the Route 30 split.

The object, which appeared to be a solid white color against the blue sky, came to a point in the front. In describing the shape of the object, the witness stated that, “it was like a boomerang, but came to a point. It was not curved like a boomerang; it was more like a chevron.” The object was not solid in the middle. It seemed to be following along the path of Route 30 heading eastward and either went through the clouds or blended in with them as it passed underneath them. The object was not moving very fast and was under observation for about two to three minutes as it moved out of sight.

Daylight Triangle
Delaware County

It was Sunday morning about 8:30 am, when the driver of a vehicle traveling north on Route 1 in Middletown Township saw something very unusual in the clear blue sky. Directly ahead of the motorist but high up, was a large solid appearing luminous triangular shaped object moving at a fast pace across the sky to her right. The object was described as glowing a bright yellowish-orange gold color. The observer told me that it appeared to look like a fat upright triangle. The witness was unsure if the object was covered with individual lights that were glowing.

The witness stopped her vehicle in a parking lot and continued to watch the object, which was unlike anything she had ever seen before. As the woman tried to figure of what she was seeing, the object just suddenly vanished in front of her eyes. “It did not go up, down, or any other direction, it simply disappeared.” The witness was so concerned about what she saw, that she called some local agencies to see if they had received additional reports. The observer commented to me that she was “absolutely amazed” at what she had seen.

Silent Formation
Jeannette, PA

A witness reported that at about 6:15 pm, he observed two bright star-like objects moving across the sky. The witness then realized that the two bright objects seemed to be moving in a single formation. He was unsure if the objects were connected or following one behind the other. The observer surmised that the lights might have been attached to an unseen structure, which in that case would have made the silent object very large in size. The man watched as the lights moved off towards the southeast.

Two Lights Move Over McMurray
McMurray, PA

At about 6:25 pm, a man was outside when he looked upward and observed two bright light sources moving across the sky. The witness observed one light being followed by a second light, which was only about half as brilliant as the lead object. Both lights moved steadily and were white in color. The witness was initially of the opinion that he might be watching two satellites, but the speed of these objects was faster than those he had seen before.

When the lights passed overhead, the witness observed that they were about 15 degrees apart, and estimated to be between 1,000 and 5,000 feet altitude. The lights appeared to be larger than when they had been seen further off. The silent objects moved off towards the southwest. The witness was unsure if these were two separate objects or one large object. The witness who is very familiar with aircraft, and is a stargazer, stated that he had never seen anything like this before. An iPhone picture which the man captured of the light anomalies, showed little detail.

UFO Sightings in the Pittsburgh area

At least two people traveling independently on I-79N near Bridgeville, believe they saw something in the sky that seemed quite strange. It was a cloudy morning and one driver noticed what looked like a gray, disc-shaped object suddenly appear under the clouds. The disc seemed to wobble for several seconds then suddenly vanished. The object seemed to be surrounded in a fog or cloud cover mist.

The other motorist reportedly saw something quite similar and also gray in color suddenly drop from the clouds, hover for several seconds, and then move off quickly at an angle back into the clouds.

Another person that same morning was said to have seen a bright orange flash in the sky near the town of McDonald.

Two Objects Videotaped Moving Across Route 30
Near Greensburg, Westmoreland County

Soon after his sighting, Tom M. called to report that while traveling in Route 30 West towards Greensburg on November 12, 2009, at about 4:30 pm, he noticed something odd in the sky. While stopped at an intersection near Mountain View, he observed what he originally thought to be two birds “fighting” each other ahead of him on Route 30. As he neared the objects “they were spinning around each other.” He soon passed beneath the objects and from that vantage point, they appeared to be shaped like a “five pointed star” with a large red light on the back. The objects continued to move over the tops of the trees along the side of the highway.

Tom pulled off of the road to grab his video camera and was successful in obtaining over a minute of video of the dark objects with about 14 seconds of more detailed footage. The two objects moved side by side across the sky, which according to the witness traveled in a slight unstable, wobbling manner. The man attempted to follow the two objects down a side road, but they were lost from sight. The man heard no sound when he was under the objects, but he did have his radio on at the time. The PA Chapter of MUFON, (www.pamufon.com) is following up on the investigation.

Stealth-Like Object Passes Over Route 30
Near Greensburg, Westmoreland County

It was about 7 pm on October 31, 2009, when a man traveling down Route 30 East outside of Greensburg and something unusual caught his attention as he approached the red light near Home Depot. Out of the corner of his eye, he observed a large bright white light moving across the sky towards the highway. His first thought was that it was a bright meteor or a navigational light on an airplane.

As the traffic signal changed green and the light passed over the roadway, the driver slowed down and hung his head out the window and was amazed at what he was seeing. The car ahead of him in the other lane had also slowed down as well. The moving light appeared to have slowed in speed. The driver was then able to discern a somewhat triangular shape, which was surrounded in light. Having been in the military and familiar with aircraft, he described it as being shaped, “like a fighter jet with its tail end down and nose up”.

The object was dark in color, possibly black or gray. It was quite large and solid in structure. The object passed over the highway at about 1,000 feet altitude and it was completely silent. A bright white light surrounded the solid dark object. There also seemed to be a cloudy mass around the dark shape as well.

The object continued to move across the sky towards the direction of Hempfield High School. The witness said that before he lost sight of it, the object turned and traveled on an angle, but soon was lost from sight in the trees. He drove to the Giant Eagle parking lot where he had a good view of the area, but the object was not seen again. The witness stated that he still gets chills when talking about what he saw.

Mysterious Segmenting Snake-Like Creature
Reported on Pennsylvania Roadway
Westmoreland County (near Youngwood)
— From Researcher Stan Gordon

This incident first came to the attention of Brian Seech, founder of the Center for Unexplained Events, who quickly made me aware of the occurrence. I have had the opportunity to interview the husband who was driving the car during this experience.

This incident occurred on September 19, 2009, at about 3:45 pm, on a beautiful, clear and sunny afternoon, in rural Westmoreland County, not far from Youngwood. A woman, her husband and child were in their car driving along the country road that afternoon. Suddenly, the woman seated behind her husband yelled out, “watch out for that snake.” The man slowed down as they focused on a black snake about four feet long that was slowly moving across the road ahead of them from right to left. The head of the reptile was in the center of the roadway. The fellow told me that while the creature looked like a snake, it did not slither like a snake, but instead, was “gliding real slow.”

Suddenly, something happened that the witnesses are still trying to explain. As the couple watched, the body of the snake broke apart into approximately eight individual creatures. The man related that this happened quickly, almost as if it exploded. Each creature was about four inches in length, but stretched up to approximately six inches as they moved. They were tubular shaped, with no tail, and charcoal black in color. The fellow said he was unsure if there was hair, but what might have been hair was of a “shiny wet” texture.

Each creature seemed to have four feet, two on each side of the body. The feet were hard to describe, since they were black, the same color as the body. They did not notice any eyes. The wife told her husband that she could see the mouth of one creature, which was wide open. The vehicle stopped about ten to twenty feet from the creatures, which were “moving individually, erratically, and extremely fast in the road.” The creatures moved like inch worms with the back hunched up and then stretching flat, growing at least two additional inches in length each time they moved.

Then all of the individual creatures positioned themselves to form a perfect solid black circle in the middle of the road. At that point, an additional similar crawling creature came out of the grass from the driver’s left side, and with extreme speed, joined the others in the circle. They then apparently all joined into one snake-like form, as no space could be seen between the units after they joined together. Then it moved very quickly to the left side of the road into the grass from where it had originated from.

The entire incident was estimated to have taken place in five to ten seconds. No unusual sounds or smells were detected during the experience, but the windows were closed at the time. The man drove the car forward, as they looked to the left trying to see where the creature had gone. They quickly hurried down the road and out of the area.

The witness explained that “the event was surreal, like watching computer generated graphics or animation”. Soon after the event, the wife drew pictures of the creatures, and sculpted what she saw with play-doh. Various reptiles, insects, and animals were researched on the internet to try to find an explanation, but none fit the various characteristics of what was observed.

This report was of much interest to me, as there was an incident I received with some similarities that occurred on June 27, 2009, in Mount Pleasant Township only a short distance from this encounter. During that evening, three passengers in a car watched what resembled over sized caterpillars, about 7 inches long moving back and forth across the road.

If you have any information on this incident or other similar cases, please contact me.

Mysterious Sky Light Explained as Rocket Launch

On Saturday evening numerous UFO sighting reports were received via e-mail and from calls on my UFO Hotline concerning a strange light phenomena in the sky. The observations occurred just before 8 pm and the descriptions were very consistent. Many people said they saw a very bright light source unlike anything they had ever seen before. One person described it as cone shaped light that was beaming down light from the sky. Another witness near Latrobe described the light more as "a domed desk lamp." The duration was about 20 seconds according to those I spoke with.

I immediately began to contact other researchers, including Peter Davenport, who operates the National UFO Reporting Center. Peter had been receiving calls not only from Pennsylvania, but also from numerous other states as well, including New York, Maine, Maryland, and West Virginia. Having investigated similar such events over the years, I was of the opinion that what had taken place may have been associated with a space experiment.

When I contacted the NASA facility at Wallops Island, Virginia, I learned they had launched a sounding rocket as part of a high altitude atmospheric experiment. The timing of the launch, and what was reported, seems to explain many of these strange light reports that came to my attention.

Luminous Barbell Seen in Sky
Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County

Did you see anything strange in the sky on Saturday night? I have received some initial information concerning an interesting UFO observation that occurred on the evening of September 5, 2009. In a rural area of Elizabeth Township outside of Pittsburgh, PA, multiple witnesses reported seeing a brilliant glowing orange object. One witness reported seeing a sizeable object that appeared to be either triangular or boomerang in shape. The brightness of the object reportedly pulsated at times as it moved quite slowly. It moved at a relatively low altitude as it circled a communications tower in the area before leaving their sight.

Minutes later, what appeared to be a glowing vertical barbell suddenly took form, surprising the observers. One witness described it as a beam separated by two lights, where the bottom light was circular. There were apparently several UFO observations that evening in the same general area.

One witness was very familiar with the aircraft that commonly fly over the area. One key observation that concerned this witness was that the objects were silent. According to reports, other UFOs were seen in that general area for the next two nights. If you have any information on this or other sightings, please contact me.

Pulsating UFO Shoots Across the Sky With Astronomical Speed
Latrobe, Westmoreland County

On the evening of September 4, 2009, a motorist in Latrobe was approaching a stop sign. At that time, he noticed a bright round yellow-white light which seemed to be pulsating. The sphere appeared to be quite low in the sky, the witness estimated it to be about 200 feet off the ground.

The man drove down the street and stopped at a house a short distance away to get another person to confirm what he was seeing. The object had moved off a short distance from where it was first seen, but it had also risen somewhat higher in the sky. There was no apparent sound from the object. As the two people continued to watch, the luminous object suddenly shot across the sky towards the south and was lost from sight. As one witness stated, “with the snap of a finger it was gone.” He said that it moved off with “astronomical speed”. They were able to see Jupiter at the same time they saw the object. The observers watched the news that night expecting to hear that other people had also reported this, but there were no other reports.

Bigfoot Close Encounter?
Uniontown, Fayette County

A report of a possible Bigfoot encounter in Pennsylvania was received by the Sasquatch Watch of VA and was then referred to Eric Altman, the Director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society to investigate. The incident occurred outside of Uniontown in Fayette County.

On July 15, 2009, a team from the PBS traveled to the location where the reported encounter occurred to interview the witness and to look over the area for any possible physical evidence. The team was comprised of Eric Altman and members Dave Dragosin and his wife, Cindy. Eric also invited Stan Gordon to participate in the investigation.

The witness and her husband were awaiting the arrival of PBS as they arrived in the area. After some introductions, they walked over toward the roadway where the encounter occurred. The location of the incident was a two lane roadway outside of Uniontown.

It was approximately 6:00 PM and the weather was warm and clear on the date of the incident. The witness was driving down the road at about 35 – 40 miles an hour when suddenly, she caught out of the corner of her eye, a figure coming from the left side and approaching her. Her first thought was that a person was about to walk in front of her car and she was going to hit him.

She swerved to the right side of the road and was thankful that nobody was there. As she was making the turn, she got a good look at the figure and realized that it was not a person but a strange creature. As she sat there for a moment, she looked into her rear view mirror and realized that the creature had gotten behind her car. “I looked into the rear view mirror and I saw it leap across my trunk.”

While still pulled over on the roadside, the woman remained seated in her car, trying to regain her composure. She could not believe what had just occurred. Seconds later, she looked up to see the creature now on her right side running quickly down the middle of another road about 75 feet away. That was the last time she saw it. The entire incident lasted just several seconds but enough time for the witness to recall a detailed description of a creature which she was certain was not human or a person in a costume.

With permission of the artist, Dave DragosinWhat she saw in daylight and at very close range was a dark colored, hair covered man-like creature which she estimated was “at least six feet or slightly taller”. The creature, which walked upright on two legs, had a head that was said to be large and enlongated, and covered with hair that just looked wild.

The neck was somewhat hard to explain since it was covered in hair. The witness said that it appeared to be thin and long. “The neck looked strange because the head was big and the shoulders were wide”. The face was mainly covered in hair yet the area that was exposed appeared to be very white. There was hair coming out from all over the face, like that of a dog or a wolf. The nose was flat and dark but was also mostly covered in hair. The mouth could not clearly be seen. The ears were not seen since they were covered with hair as well.

The eyes were its most prominent feature that really caught the witness’ attention. The eyes were at least twice the size of a human and circular in shape. The eyes were dark, possibly black in color, wide set and “wild looking”. There was “no iris, no whites”. The witness thinks that is why the eyes looked so odd. The wild look and the fierceness of the eyes of the creature scared the woman.

The creature was stocky and muscular in appearance. The chest area was described as thick and hairy. The shoulders were wide and rounded. The arms were very long, hanging down to the knees or beyond. The witness said that the hair on the arms was long like ape hair. The woman didn’t recall seeing any muscles, however, it appeared as though it was muscular and in good physical shape.

The witness had the impression that this creature was older in age. Very little detail was observed below the waist. There was no unusual sound or odor noted during the observation. The witness did have her windows up and air conditioner on.

At the scene, Dave Dragosin sketched an illustration of the creature under direction of the eyewitness. Eric and the witness’ husband searched a wooded area not far from the location of the encounter but nothing of interest was found.

We also went over to examine the car. As I was looking over the car body, I noticed what appeared to be an unusual scratch mark on the trunk surface on the left side of the vehicle. I pointed it out to the others as well as the woman and her husband. They had never seen this surface area damage before.

From Stan Gordon's personal filesThe affected area was about six inches from the left tail light to the first striation of the scratches. The scratched area was about 8.5 inches long and 2 inches wide. There were numerous vertical and horizontal very thin scratch lines that went into the paint surface. There is a possibility that this might be related to the creature’s movements as it leaped across the trunk area from that side.

It was my impression that the witness was sincere and competent. As she described to us what she had seen and experienced that night; it was evident that she was still emotionally upset by what had occurred. The witness told me that after the encounter she drove down the road a short distance and parked her car. She sat there thinking about what had happened. She was trying to convince herself that this was a person but realized that it couldn’t have been.

These are her reasons why she feels it was nota human: a) the rate of speed the figure came across into the path of her car and that it didn’t care that it was going to get hit and b) the fast movement of the creature and the way it leaped over the trunk.

She also had a good look at the creature and some facial features. The eyes of the creature frightened her.

When she arrived home, she waited a little while before telling her family about what she had seen. She was initially met with some disbelief from her children. Her husband listened to her and believed that she had seen something. He told her that she should call the police to see if anyone else had reported something similar. The witness said that she was not calling the police, concerned that she would be ridiculed.

The direction that the creature was last observed moving towards would take it into a heavily wooded area in the direction of Jammonville. There has been a long history of Bigfoot sightings being reported in this same general area of Fayette County.

Strange Giant Insects
Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County

A car carrying four people in the evening saw something strange crawling on the road ahead of them in Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County. A man sitting in the back seat yelled and pointed ahead, making the others in the car aware of what he was seeing.

The witness provided a detailed account of what was seen and what had taken place. The first observation involved a creature which was described as “looked like a giant caterpillar”. The oversized insect crawled from right to left on the road a short distance ahead of the observers.

The creature was described as approximately 7 inches in length from tip to tip, appeared to be segmented, and moved like a grub. It was primarily an iridescent white color with a bluish tint but witnesses emphasized that it was not glowing. The creature showed no signs of legs or feet and had no apparent head or tail. The body was skinnier at the ends and fatter in the center of the body.

As they continued driving, just seconds later, a second similar looking creature was observed as it moved from right to left then reversed direction on the roadway. The car of startled people continued down the country road and within a very short distance observed a total of 6 or 7 of the same looking creatures, some in the roadway while others were along the side of the road. One of the last creatures seen was in the middle of the road in front of the witnesses which they drove over but they did not hit it. The driver refused to slow down to take a closer look as to what those things were.

Reportedly, when the observers returned home, they did an internet search to try to find what they had seen. One witness was questioning/wondering that if these things were some kind of larva, what sort of creature would emerge from them.
