Researcher and Investigator

Stan Gordon’s lifelong interest in UFO and other phenomena began after receiving an AM radio for his 10th birthday.

Since 1965, Stan has conducted On Scene Investigations of thousands of mysterious encounters across Pennsylvania. Stan gained prominence in the field of UFO research as the authority on The Kecksburg UFO Incident. He is also well regarded in the area of paranormal research with his first hand investigation into a series of documented Bigfoot encounters and UFO sightings that occurred throughout Pennsylvania in 1973.

Stan created the Westmoreland County UFO Study Group in 1970 which expanded into the Pennsylvania Center for UFO Research in 1975. Stan served as State Director of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) during the 1970’s. In 1981, Stan founded and served as Director of the Pennsylvania Association for the Study of the Unexplained as well as editor of the PASU Data Exchange, a newsletter covering cases of phenomena investigated in Pennsylvania. PASU consisted of an all volunteer research unit which ceased operation in November of 1993.

Stan received the 1987 MUFON Meritorious Achievement in a UFO Investigation Award; the first award of its kind.

Stan has presented lectures on these subjects to professional and civic organizations, continues to receive requests for similar presentations, and has conducted adult education courses on the subject of UFOs at the Westmoreland County Community College. In addition, Stan has been listed in the Directory of Experts, Authorities, and Spokespersons (formerly known as The Talk Show Guest Directory) and in The International Who’s Who in UFOlogy Directory by Robert D. Boyd (1988).

Over the years, the Associated Press and United Press International news services have produced many articles regarding his investigations. The March 1974 edition of Pittsburgh Renaissance Magazine featured Stan Gordon for their cover story. Other magazines have also featured Stan and his work, including: the Pittsburgh Press Roto Magazine, the Greensburg Tribune-Review, FOCUS, the Philadelphia Inquirer, Sports Illustrated, The National Observer and The Globe.

Stan is a regular feature columnist for The Gate, a quarterly magazine covering various strange occurrences. He also published a paper in the 1974 MUFON UFO Symposium Proceedings titled ‘UFOs in Relation to Creature Sightings in Pennsylvania’. This paper is quoted extensively by researchers world wide. He is offered credit for his research in books such as: Creatures of the Outer Edge by Clark and Coleman, UFO Dynamics by Dr. Berthold E. Schwarz, The Bigfoot Casebook by Janet and Colin Bord and Alien Animals by Bord and Coleman, Bigfoot by Slate and Berry and Bigfoot on the East Coast by Rick Berry.

A frequent guest on talk shows, Stan has appeared on such programs as: UFO’s Tonite! with host Don Ecker (Cable Radio Network), 21st Century Radio with Dr. Bob Hieronimus (WCBM 680 AM, Baltimore, MD and live streaming via the internet), Evening Magazine (CBS), PM Magazine (NBC) and was interviewed by a crew from Nippon TV (Tokyo, Japan).

In 1998, Stan Gordon produced and released a 92 minute video documentary on the Kecksburg Incident entitled Kecksburg: The Untold Story; winner of the 1998 EBE film award for Best Historical UFO Documentary by the 8th Annual International UFO Congress.

Stan Gordon remains active in the field as an independent researcher and investigator as time permits. He also continues to investigate information concerning the UFO crash and retrieval case near Kecksburg, PA on December 9, 1965.
